

John D. Hogan, Jr. 85, of Newington, beloved husband of Eileen (Collins) Hogan, died Thursday February 15, 2007 at St. Francis Hospital. Born in St. Albans, VT he was the son of the late John D. Hogan, Sr. and Nellie (Bushnell) Hogan and lived in Newington for most of his life. He retired as a foreman in 1977 from Pratt & Whitney Aircraft after 35 years of service. For many years he was a real estate broker with Prudential Realty. He was a U. S. Marine Corps veteran of WW II. Active in numerous community affairs he was a member of American Legion Post #117 and VFW Post #9836 both in Newington, a former member of the Newington Zoning Board of Appeals. He served his fellow veterans by volunteering with the Sailors, Soldiers and Marine Fund. Besides his wife, he is survived by his children; Maureen Klett and her husband Richard of Newington, John D. Hogan, III, of Acton, ME, Kathleen Dix and her husband Dennis of Newington, Timothy Hogan and his wife Nancy of Newington, Kevin J. Hogan of Newington and Patricia Drugg and her husband Scott of Wakefield, NH, his brothers, William and Donald Hogan both of Florida, Patrick Hogan of Vermont, three sisters, Joyce Barkyumb of Vermont, Janice Hoben of Florida and Patricia White of New Hampshire, sixteen grandchildren, five great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, Daniel M. Hogan, his brothers, Gordon Lepper and Robert Hogan and his sister Jean Chenette. The family would like to express their sincerest appreciation to Dr. Santo Buccheri for his loving and compassionate care, to the staff on 7-1 at St. Francis Hospital and to St. Francis Hospice Care. The funeral is Monday at 9 a.m. from the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd. Wethersfield with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Mary?s Church, Newington. Burial will be in Rose Hill Memorial Park, Rocky Hill with full military honors. The family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
