Joseph “Grampa Joe” Bogucki, 96, of Middletown, beloved husband for 58 years of the late Leona (Johnson) Bogucki, passed away peacefully with his grandson by his side on Sunday, October 7, 2018. Born in New Haven on July 19, 1922, he was the son of the late Joseph and Lillian (Prokop) Bogucki. Over the years Joe worked for Sikorsky, Chance Vought and retired from Pratt & Whitney Aircraft as a General Foreman. He very much enjoyed being a member of the B-29 Restoration Team at the New England Air Museum, he was always tinkering around the house and could fix just about anything, he loved driving and took a solo trip from Connecticut to Florida at age 91, and took great pleasure in cheering on his great-granddaughters at their soccer games and school events. A loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Joe will be forever missed by his son, Donald J. Bogucki and wife Elizabeth of Keeseville, NY; his grandson, Aaron and wife Jean and his great-grandson, Alexander of Stuart, Florida; his grandson, Mark and wife Laura and his great-grandsons, Taylor and Noah and great-granddaughter, Lila of Tega Cay, South Carolina; and his very devoted grandson, Larry Bogucki and wife Tara of Middletown, with whom he made his home for 15 years, and his two adored great-granddaughters who brought him so much joy, Kaitlyn and Jessica Bogucki. He was sadly predeceased by his beloved son, Lars Bogucki. Special thanks are offered to his aide, Tim Sarkisian, who provided exceptional assistance to Joe for the past two years.
Funeral services and burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
