Joseph C. DePlacito

Joseph C. DePlacito, 75 of Berlin, entered peacefully into eternal life on Saturday, (December 22, 2012) with his loving family by his side. He was born on March 4, 1937 in Hartford to the late Joseph and Benedetta (Bonomo) DePlacito. He was the beloved husband for 54 years to Ellen Barbara (Locksie) DePlacito, whom he affectionately called ""Babe"". Joe was a wonderful father to his children, Joseph and Kathi DePlacito, Lisa Santos and Pura Gomez, Christine and Robert Urciuoli. His pride and joy were his grandchildren, Joshua DePlacito, Elena and Phil Alexander, Stephanie Urciuoli, Sarah DePlacito, Hannah DePlacito and his great-grandchildren, Wyatt and Anthony DePlacito. Joe is also survived by his sister, Lois and husband Mike Kobylanski; brother, Benny and his wife Priscilla DePlacito; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Don and Judy Robertson, along with many nieces and nephews. Joe will be especially missed by his two pet companions Bella and Ginger. Joe proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. He was employed at Colt Manufacturing for over 28 years. He was a proud and active member of his Union, UAW Local 376. Joe continued to stand in solidarity with his union brothers and sisters long after he left his employment. He loved to talk politics and sports especially his beloved NY Yankees, NY Giants and his favorite team, UConn Women's Basketball. Funeral services will leave Saturday at 9 a.m. from the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Augustine Church, 10 Campfield Ave., Hartford. Burial with military honors will follow in Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield. The family will receive relatives and friends on Friday from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral chapel.
