Joseph F. Nelson

Joseph F. Nelson, of Wethersfield, loving husband of Antoinette (Palazzo) Nelson for 61 years, passed away peacefully, Friday (March 4, 2011). He was born September 25, 1926 in Hartford and was the son of the late George and Mary (Dobson) Nelson. Joseph was a graduate of Bulkeley High School, Class of 1944 and Catholic University. He was a proud World War II, U.S. Air Force veteran. He was the President of Nelson Insurance Agency in Hartford since 1955. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and an active member of the YMCA. Joseph was a longtime faithful communicant, usher and collector at St. Luke Church in Hartford. He will be dearly missed by his family and many friends. Beside his wife, he is survived by two sons, Joseph M. Nelson of Wethersfield and Michael S. Nelson and wife, Patricia of West Hartford; four grandchildren, Erika Anderson and husband, Brian, Kelley Muise and husband, Adrien, Christopher Nelson and fiancée, Terry and Matthew Nelson; a great granddaughter, Claire Anderson; sisters-in-law, Caroline Popielarz of New Britain and Anna Markese of West Hartford as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, George Nelson. Funeral service will be Tuesday (March 8) at 9 a.m. at the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Luke Church, 66 Bolton St., Hartford. The burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hartford. Calling hours are Monday (March 7) from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral chapel.
