

Josephine (Palmeri) Rubera, 94, of Wethersfield, loving wife of the late Joseph A. “Scalpy” Rubera, died peacefully, Sunday (October 20, 2013) at Apple Rehab in Rocky Hill with her family by her side. She was born July 1, 1919 in Hartford and was the daughter of the late Vincenzo “James” Palmieri and Giuseppa (Granito) Palmieri. She lived in Wethersfield since 1998. She was a faithful communicant of St. Luke Church, Hartford for over 50 years. Josephine was also a member of the St. Luke’s Rosary Society for many years where she and several of the members made baptismal robes for babies being baptized. She had a great devotion to Our Blessed Mother and recited the Rosary daily. Josephine retired from Travelers Insurance Company after 13 years of service and also worked for Lombardi Clothing for many years, as well as several other jobs. She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She will be dearly missed by her two daughters, Linda A. Rubera and Marie R. Carucci, both of Wethersfield; four cherished grandchildren, Dr. Gina M. Carucci, Angela M. Kelleher and husband Michael S. Kelleher, Ralph J. Carucci and wife Kathleen (Moran) Carucci and Dr. Michael J. Carucci and the loves of her life, five cherished great-grandchildren, Michael Thomas Carucci, Kelly Marie Carucci, Erin Marie Carucci, Luke Joseph Kelleher and Megan Elizabeth Kelleher. Josephine also leaves behind many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her son-in-law, Ralph W. Carucci; three brothers, Angelo, Albert and James Palmeri; her sister, Lil (Palmeri) Lattanzio and her husband Albert, as well as two nieces, Barbara (Lattanzio) Matulis and Carole (Palmeri) Tremblay. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Apple Rehab, especially the nurses and CNAs for the care they gave Josephine.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Luke Church, Hartford. The burial will be in Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield. Calling hours are Thursday morning, prior to the Mass, from 9-10 a.m. at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield.
