

Kathleen (McCaw) Klett, 103, of Newington, wife of the late Harold F. Klett, died Monday (September 16, 2013) at Bel-Air Manor, Newington after a long and wonderful life. Born on January 1, 1910 in Kilcorcoran, Miltown Malbay, County Clare, Ireland she was the daughter of the late John and Mary (Kennelly) McCaw and left her parents at the age of 16 emigrating to Hartford, then moving to Newington in 1940. She retired in 1974 from the Aetna Life & Casualty Co. after 23 years of service. She was a member of the 39ers Club at the Aetna and the Newington Senior Citizens. An avid reader and great student of history, she loved her crossword puzzles. She was a devoted wife and a patient and loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She is survived by her daughter, Mary Klett Ryan of Rutland, VT; her sons and daughters-in-law: Joseph F. Klett, Richard A. Klett and his wife Maureen, all of Newington, and Michael A. Klett and his wife Janet of Old Saybrook; her sister, Biddy Morrison in England; her grandchildren: Stephen K. Ryan, Mary Kate Whittum, Maura C. Ryan, John M. Klett, Thomas R. Klett, Mary-Lou Stoneburner, Timothy R. Klett, Kathleen Gallagher, Kevin P. Klett, Harold L. Klett, Brian P. Klett, K.C. Klett, Colin R. Klett, Michael D. Klett; two step-grandchildren, Robbie Rhodes and Jessica Strickett and many great-grandchildren. She was also blessed with many wonderful, loving nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by her son and daughter-in-law, John F. and E. Joyce Klett; her son-in-law, Thomas C. Ryan; a grandson, Joseph M. DuMouchel and her siblings, Michael J. McCaw, Patrick McCaw, Maureen Canny, Nancy Quigley, Nellie McCaw, John McCaw, Susan McCaw, and Joseph McCaw. The family would like to extend their utmost gratitude to the staff at Bel-Air Manor and to her long-time primary care physician, Dr. Santo Buccheri.
The funeral will be Thursday at 8:30 a.m. from the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in St. Mary’s Church, 626 Willard Ave., Newington. Burial will be in West Meadow Cemetery, Newington. The family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral chapel.
