

Lois Gallup McOmber, 99, wife of Melvin William McOmber, mother of two, grandmother of six, great grandmother of ten and good friend to all passed away peacefully on February 7, 2025. Lois will be lovingly remembered for her quick wit, laughter, strength and love of life. She was spirited, engaging, feisty, sharp and always looking for the joy in life. Born the daughter of Etta and Raymond Gallup on October 26, 1925, Lois grew up in Rocky Hill and attended Wethersfield schools. After graduation, Lois married her high school sweetheart and the love of her life Melvin “Mel” McOmber. Lois was a long-time member of First Church and Wethersfield Garden Club and she earned the distinction of master in duplicate bridge. In addition to bridge, her passions included entertaining family and old friends, sharing stories, sitting by the pool, enjoying lobsters and sweet treats, and supporting the UConn Huskies. Lois’ family was her first love. She leaves her two children and their families: Marilyn Corcoran of Newington and children Donald (Lisa), Douglas (Joanna) and Jamie (Tara) Corcoran; David McOmber of Wethersfield and children Kelsie Harrison, Ian (Laura Stanhope) McOmber, and Evan (Katherine) McOmber. She also leaves ten cherished great grandchildren who brought her so much joy: Ryan McOmber and Kyleigh Harrison; Emily, Molly and Abby Corcoran; Lavinia and Olive Corcoran; and Ellie, Dean and Lila McOmber. As well as, many cousins, nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Lois was predeceased by Mel, her husband of 72 years; daughter-in-law, Stephanie McOmber; brother-in-law, Charles McOmber; two sisters-in-law Katherine Schimanskey, and Joyce McOmber, and nephew Richie Gallup. The family wishes to extend its deepest appreciation to, Jodie Heimgartner, for all her love, caring, and support, and to Lois’ caregiver, Natasha. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Shriners Hospitals for Children, Attn: Office of Development, 2900 Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, FL 33607 or an organization of your choice.
Calling hours will be held on February 23rd from 1:00-4:00 at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family. The D’Esopo Funeral Chapel is entrusted with the arrangements.
