

Lorenzo Cicchiello, 91, of Wethersfield, loving husband of Maria (Ferrarra) Cicchiello for over 59 years, entered into eternal life on Thursday, (February 14, 2008) with his caring and beloved family and friends at his side at a local health care center. He was born March 12, 1916, in San Lorenzo Maggiore, province di Benevento, Italy and was the son of the late Angelo and Giovannina (Iannotti) Cicchiello. Mr. Cicchiello was a Sergeant Major veteran of the Italian Army during World War II, where he was also a P.O.W. in Greece. He immigrated to America in 1960 and shortly thereafter in 1963, he became a businessman owning a pizza restaurant and real estate. He was later employed by the Associated Construction Company for many years, retiring in 1983. During his retirement years, Lorenzo spent many summers in his hometown of San Lorenzo and winters in Florida and the Caribbean. He also traveled great distances visiting relatives in Sydney and Melbourne, Australia. Lorenzo was an avid gardener and wine maker, but most of all, he was a hard-working family man. One of Lorenzo's greatest pleasures was enjoying the delicious meals prepared by his beloved wife Maria. He will be sadly missed by his family and many friends. Along with his parents, Lorenzo was predeceased by three brothers, Gennarino, Antonio, Francesco, and three sisters, Giuseppina, Vincenza, and Mariuccia. Besides his wife, Maria, he is survived by a devoted son, Attorney Angelo Cicchiello and his wife Paula of Wethersfield; two grandsons, Dr. Lawrence Cicchiello of New Haven and Attorney Emanuele Cicchiello and his wife Sophia of Hartford; three nieces, Maryann Perry, Emma Reinwald, Jean Rich all of the Bridgeport area; and several other relatives in Italy, Australia, and Canada. Funeral service will be Monday, February 18, at 9 a.m. from the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10 a.m. at Incarnation Church, 544 Prospect Street, Wethersfield. Entombment will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery Mausoleum, Hartford.
