
Maria (Mary) I. Corsi (Ferzacca), 90, formerly of Hartford, Rocky Hill, and Middletown peacefully passed away on Friday, (December 16, 2011) at The Reservoir, West Hartford. Mary was predeceased by her husband of 49 years, Alfred V. Corsi. Mary was born in Capestrano, Italy on April 1, 1921, a daughter of the late Nicola and Elisa (DiGregorio) Ferzacca. She was a resident of Hartford for 61 years before moving to Rocky Hill and recently making her home with her daughter Linda in Middletown. Mary retired after 20 years of service from the Travelers Insurance Company; during which time she enjoyed her lunch hours shopping in downtown Hartford. Riding the city bus before learning to drive at the age of fifty; along with cooking, reading, gardening, and musicals were many of her personal pleasures. Mary leaves her son, Nicola Corsi and her special daughter in-law, Noreen of Middlebury, formerly of Rocky Hill; her two daughters, Linda Kokinis of Middletown, Josie Bergeron and her husband Roy of Newington; her sister, Phyllis Panazza and her husband Armand of Berlin, her brother, Nic Ferzacca and his wife Mim of West Hartford, her sister in-law Elia Giardini of Montreal, Canada; her six grandchildren, Jennifer Corsi Zembruski and her husband Joseph, Nick Corsi and his wife Natia, George Kokinis, Gregory Kokinis, Julie Bergeron and Dan Bergeron; her four great-grandchildren, Nathaniel and Grace Zembruski, Anna and Benjamin Corsi; her lifelong friend Beverly Billiter, and many loving and devoted nieces, nephews, cousins and godchildren. Mary's greatest joy in life was her family. She loved cooking spaghetti, chicken soup, pizza and pizzelles, and enjoyed sewing aprons for everyone. The family would like to thank the entire staff at The Reservoir, Saint Francis CHF Unit, and the Hospital for Special Care of New Britain for the compassionate care given to our mom.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, (December 21) at 9:30 a.m. at St. James Church, 767 Elm Street, Rocky Hill. Friends are asked to meet directly at the church at 9:15 a.m. Burial will follow in Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 4-8 pm at the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd. Wethersfield. Please consider a donation of a book in Mary's name to a library of your choice.
