Maria Concetta (Fusco) Mancini, 91, of Wethersfield, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving and dedicated family on Wednesday, September 7, 2016 to be reunited with her beloved husband Lupo. Concetta, as she was known, was born on January 26, 1925 in Pontelandolfo, Province of Benevento, Italy and was the daughter of the late Domenicantonio and Filomena (Rinaldi) Fusco. Concetta emigrated to America in December 1949 to join her husband Lupo, who had arrived in Hartford two years prior. They purchased a home in Wethersfield, but were delayed from moving due to the Great Flood of 1955. The fertile land afforded her the opportunity to continue her passion of gardening. Her master skills were unmatched and her produce was highly sought after. Her house plants and trees grace many homes and businesses throughout the region today. She had superior cooking skills, making many classic peasant dishes that are today’s desired cuisine. With the love that only a mother could give, she was happiest when surrounded by her adoring family. She was the heart and soul of a large family of four boys and three girls, while assimilating into her new American life. One of her proudest moments was when she became a US citizen. Concetta is survived by her children Michael and Karen Mancini of Glastonbury, Joseph and Annmarie Mancini of Wethersfield, John Mancini of Wethersfield, Maria and William Iberti of Sebastopol, CA, Filomena (Phyllis) and Ric Baluyot of Hayward, CA, Antonio Mancini of Wethersfield, Teresa and Guy Tommasi of Middletown. In addition she will be missed by her adoring grandchildren; Michael Mancini, Jr., Denise Abbatemarco, Anthony Baluyot, Natalie Baluyot and Giulia Iberti; great granddaughters; Carina Mancini, Samantha Mancini and Hailey Keel; her sister Carmela Gugliotti of Middlebury as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family throughout Italy and Canada.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday, September 13th from 4 to 7 p.m. at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Boulevard, Wethersfield. Funeral services for Concetta will begin at 9:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 14th from the funeral chapel, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at Corpus Christi Church, 601 Silas Deane Highway, Wethersfield.
