

Marie Angelina (Cariani) Petrizzo, 82, of Bloomfield, loving wife of the late James J. Petrizzo, passed away on Monday (April 13, 2009). She was born October 14, 1926, in Springfield, MA, the daughter of the late Dr. Mario and Angelina (Arrigo) Cariani, and was raised by her aunt and uncle, Carlo and Catherine Casoni. She received her Bachelors Degree in Business Administration in 1948 from American International College in Springfield and earned a Masters Degree in Education from the University of Hartford. Marie was a dedicated elementary school teacher at the Burns School on Putnam Street in Hartford for many years, retiring in 1982. She was a member of the Jewish Community Center of Bloomfield and loved reading, writing and education, but by far the most important thing to her was spending time with her family. Marie is survived by her children, her daughter Donna Petrizzo of Bloomfield; and sons, Michael Petrizzo and his wife Monica of South Windsor and Mark Petrizzo and Donna Schwartz of West Hartford; and her five cherished grandchildren, Leah, Jeanne, Natalie, James and Mollie. The funeral will leave Friday, April 17, at 10 a.m. from the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield, for an 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Sacred Heart Church, 26 Wintonbury Ave., Bloomfield. Burial will follow in Mount St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield. Calling hours are Thursday from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral chapel.
