

Mario Efici, 64, of Rocky Hill, beloved son of Giovanna (Traina) Efici and the late Salvatore Efici, passed away peacefully after a long illness on Saturday, February 14, 2026. Mario was born on March 8, 1961, in Brooklyn, New York. He graduated from Bulkeley High School and went on to work for the State of Connecticut, Department of Administrative Services, for 31 years, retiring in 2010.
Mario was an avid movie buff who especially loved reel-to-reel films and classic horror movies. He was also a devoted New York Yankees fan. Music brought him great joy, and he loved playing the drums. Mario loved going to New York City on the weekends, and he volunteered as an usher for Sunday masses at St. Patrick’s cathedral. Mario had an amazing sense of humor and enjoyed making people laugh. He will forever be known for his sound effects and imitations of people. He was full of life and a true character.
In addition to his loving mother, Mario will forever be missed by his five siblings: Marinella Motta and her husband Santo; Emilia Harshaw and her partner Wade; Salvatore Efici Jr.; Linda Efici; and Tony Efici and his wife Jamie. He also leaves behind cherished nieces and nephews, and several great-nieces and great-nephews, as well as many extended family members and friends. Mario’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
Calling hours will be Friday, February 20 from 8:30-10 a.m. at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. at St. James Church of St. Josephine Bakhita Parish, 767 Elm Street, Rocky Hill.
