Michael A. Galer, 59, beloved husband of Laura (Gallitto) Galer, of Cromwell, passed away peacefully Wednesday, June 23, 2021 at his home. Michael was born in Brookline, MA and was the loving son to Doris Kane of Salem, MA and Jerry Cole of Monroe, NJ.
Michael worked in construction as a brick mason most of his life, but his career was cut short after he developed a rare blood cancer. In November 2010, he underwent a life-saving bone marrow stem cell transplant and had since dedicated his life to maintaining his health. Without fail, every morning he would start his day with light exercise and a Macintosh apple, his favorite.
Besides exercising, Mike enjoyed spending time planning fabulous cruise vacations, listening to classic rock music, and watching sports. He was an avid Boston sports fan, and especially enjoyed watching Patriot football games. He loved watching his kids play sports when they were young, and was known for being an exceptional soccer player himself. Mike loved spending days on the beach with his wife, Laura, attending concerts with his son, John, and visiting his grandson Dylan with a stash of mini M&M treats.
Besides his beloved wife, Laura, he is survived and will also be dearly missed by his mother, Doris Kane, his father, Jerry Cole, and his wife Barbara Cole of Monroe, NJ, his son, John Galer and girlfriend, Johanna of Colchester, CT, his daughter Stephanie Govoni and her husband Matt, and grandson Dylan of Cromwell, CT, his three sisters: Laurie Galer of Salem, MA, Amy Warner and her husband Lee, of East Brunswick, NJ and Jodi Weitz and her husband Jonathan of Flemington, NJ. He also will also be dearly missed by his many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Family and friends are invited for a time of visitation to be held Friday, June 25, 2021 from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd, Wethersfield, followed by a Funeral Home Service at 12:00 PM.
