

Raymond V. Kelley, 60, of Wethersfield, beloved husband of Theresa (Buczna) Kelley, passed away on Wednesday, August 12, 2009 after a tough five month battle with cancer. Ray fought his cancer like a true Marine, with courage right up to the end. He was born August 3, 1949 in Hartford and was the son of the late Raymond V. Kelley, Sr. and Margaret (Deslauriers) Kelley. He was a graduate of South Catholic High School, Class of 1967. Ray was a proud, honorably discharged, US Marine Corps veteran of the Vietnam War and a Class of 1982 graduate of the University of Hartford. He retired from Hartford Hospital in 2004 as the Director of Security after 28 ½ years of service. Ray was a true patriot and a good man. He was very proud of his service in the Vietnam War. He was a loving husband and a wonderful father to his son and daughter. Ray was also a man of integrity who gave willingly his time and service to many organizations. He was a longtime faithful communicant of the Church of the Incarnation, Wethersfield where he was past president of the Men?s Association, a lector, a religion teacher and a choir member. He was an avid golfer and a member of the Hartford Hospital Golf League and the Tunxis Plantation Golf Association. He will be sadly missed by his devoted family and many friends. Besides his wife, Terry of 35 years, Ray is survived by his son, Capt. Stephen G. Kelley, USMC, and his wife, Sara of Twenty-nine Palms, CA and his daughter, Amanda Kelley, and her fiancé, Craig Parlee of Enfield. He also leaves his brother, Greg Kelley and his wife, Denise, of West Hartford; his sister-in-law, Bernice Sasiadek of Glastonbury; two nephews, Edward Sasiadek of Glastonbury and Ted Sasiadek of Stratford; his Uncle Norbert and Aunt Ida Deslauriers of Hartford; his godmother, Doris Dillon of Farmington; and many friends and cousins. He was predeceased by his sister, Marietta Kelley. Funeral service will be Saturday at 9 a.m. from the D?Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at the Church of the Incarnation, 544 Prospect Street, Wethersfield. The burial will be in the State Veterans? Cemetery, Middletown with full military honors. Calling hours are Friday from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral chapel.
