

Renaud Yves Morissette, 85, of East Hartford, Bloomfield and originally from St. Georges de Beauce, Quebec, Canada passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 30, 2017 with his family by his side. Born March 27, 1932 to Emerance and Florian Morissette in St. Georges, his early years were spent in Canada until he and his family moved to the U.S. in 1962. His accomplishments were many, including forming his own construction company, and assisting to form the 1st French Canadian Council of the Knights of Columbus where he served as Grand Knight. Renaud also served as President of the French Social Circle and General Manager/Coach of the East Hartford Canadians in the old SNEHL.
He is survived by his sister, Rejeanne Bergeron, and his two brothers, Antoine Morissette and Martin Morissette and wife Claudette all of St. Georges, Quebec, Canada. He was very proud of his five sons and family: Michel of Manchester, Rene and wife Linda of Ellington, Bernard and wife Janine of Stafford, Stephane and wife Katie of East Hampton, and John and wife Tammy of South Windsor; 10 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, October 7, 2017 at 10 am at St. Mary’s Church, 15 Maplewood Avenue, East Hartford. Burial will be private. There are no calling hours. The family would like to extend thanks to Renaud’s caregivers at Fox Hill Center for their attentive care and warmth during his stay there.
