

Richard J. “Dick” Frascarelli, Sr., age 86, beloved husband of the late Joanne Pelletier Frascarelli, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, June 2, 2022 with his family by his side. Richard was born on March 21, 1936 in Hartford, the son of the late Maria (Tomassetti) and Bonifacio Frascarelli. He attended Bulkeley High School, and later served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict. After being discharged on April 7, 1958, he worked for the Hartford Police Department. While in the police department, he was assigned to the Traffic Division as an accident investigator. In September of 1968, Richard was promoted to detective and assigned to the Detective Division Major Crimes Division and, in 1977, the Burglary Squad. After he retired from the Hartford Police Department, he was employed by the State of Connecticut Department of Motor Vehicles Automobile Emission Division as an Emissions Field Representative in Groton, and was later promoted to Contract Compliance Officer. Richard treasured his summer days at Point O’ Woods beach with his family and winters at his home in Florida. He loved old Westerns and war movies and Sunday pasta dinners with his family.
Richard is survived by his four children, Gail Frascarelli, Lisa Murray and Diane Frascarelli, all of Ledyard, and Richard Frascarelli, Jr. and his wife Michelle of South Lyme; his stepchildren, Kenneth Pelletier, Russell Pelletier and Laurie Fresher; four adored grandchildren, Angelina Frascarelli, Siera Frascarelli, Richard J. Frascarelli, III and Alexis Frascarelli; three beloved great grandchildren, Aliah, Aniah and Ariana as well as his nephews and their families. Along with his family, Richard cherished his time spent with his loving friend, Dorothy Balut and her family, to whom the family is especially grateful for the attentive and compassionate care they provided over the years. In addition to his wife and parents, Richard was predeceased by his sister, Lillian Raimondi and his brothers, Joseph Frascarelli and Dominic Frascarelli.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 3 to 6 p.m. on Sunday (June 5) at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield. The funeral procession will depart at 9:30 a.m. on Monday (June 6) from the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Augustine Church, 10 Campfield Avenue, Hartford. Burial with military honors will follow in Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield.
