Rita Gram Surber Miller

Rita “Gram” (Surber) Miller, 86, of East Hartford, formerly of Rocky Hill and Hartford, beloved wife of the late Julius W. Miller, Jr., died peacefully on Wednesday, December 26, 2012 one day after spending a wonderful holiday amongst her family. Born in Hamburg, IA, she was the daughter of the late John and Agnes (Spielbusch) Surber and spent her early years in South Windsor. Prior to her retirement in 1991, she was employed as a Vice Treasurer at the Connecticut Bank & Trust Co. She is survived by two sons, William J. Miller and his wife, Lee of Cromwell and Alan L. Miller of East Hartford; her daughter, Marcia M. Gionfrido of East Hartford; her sisters, Pauline Pastula of Manchester, Velma Flenke of Port Clyde, ME, Lee Keenan of Rumford, RI and Roseann Boudreau of Enola, PA; her grandchildren, Jim and Meggan Evans, Michael Gionfrido, Seth and Shawn Miller, Lyndsy, Amy and Jessica Sager, Catherine and Brittney Miller and Alan L. Miller, Jr. and six great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her brother, Paul Surber and a sister, Mary Patenode.
