Robert Patrick “Bob” Bridgett, Jr. 58, of Cromwell, formerly of Middletown and West Hartford, passed away, Thursday, October 22, 2015 at 5:55 p.m. Bob went peacefully surrounded with love, family and friends. He is finally at rest after a long battle with cancer. His life and soul were filled with love, laughter and beauty. He is now in the good company of his parents, Robert Sr. and Catherine (Racaniello) Bridgett as well as his aunts, Lorraine Tulin and Marie Taylor. The Sunday night poker games can continue at last. Those he leaves behind have wonderful memories of great times and include his husband, Gene Carlin of Cromwell, his sisters, Carolyn (Dave) Anderson of Marlborough and Barbara Bridgett-Fritz of Bethany. His many nieces, nephews, great-nephews and extended family will also miss him dearly. Bob owned successful restaurants, Bob’s Café I & II and a catering business in Glastonbury; he was very happy and proud of the food he lovingly prepared for all of his patrons. In his spare time he was company director for a theatre troupe, Pride City Players, where he directed such hits as Auntie Mame, The Ritz, Steel Magnolias and many original debuts. Bob was always ready with a helping hand for anyone in need. He was truly a Friend among Friends and an inspiration to many people struggling with their own forms of disease and addiction. He and Gene made a commitment long ago to focus all their attention on the positives that life has to offer and make the most of each day. He traveled extensively throughout the United States, the Islands and Europe and loved the adventures that each trip took him to. Both Bob and Gene would like to thank all the wonderful family, friends and professionals who have made this journey a little more bearable. We always remember that we have beautiful people in and around our lives every day, all the time. Recognizing who they are makes all the difference.
Bob has planned to be cremated with his ashes to be spread on Las Vegas Boulevard (the Strip), Las Vegas, NV. Calling hours will be Saturday (October 31) from 11:30 am to 2:30 pm followed by a Funeral Service at 2:30 at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd, Wethersfield. A gathering and celebration of Bob’s life will follow the service at Wethersfield Country Club, 75 Country Club Road, Wethersfield for all who would like to attend. As Bob wished, we’ll re-connect with extended friends and family, catch up on old times and share memories of Bob. For on line expressions of sympathy please visit www.desopo.com
