Robert Harold Foltz, 93, of Hartford, formerly of Canton, husband of the late Norma (McDonald) Foltz died Thursday September 7, 2006 at Hartford Hospital. Born in Columbus, OH, he lived in Closter, New Jersey, Edina, Minnesota and Stamford, Connecticut while working in executive positions at several corporations. He retired as the Director of Transportation for FMC Corporation in 1973. He continued to work as a business consultant while enjoying retirement in Pawlet, Vermont and then in Canton, where he lived for over twenty years. He was especially proud of his service in World War II as a staff officer with the Third Army in France and Germany following the Normandy Invasion. After the War, he served in the Army Reserves, eventually retiring with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Gretchen F. and George J. Kelly, Jr. of Wethersfield and two grandchildren, Katherine and Michael Kelly. He was predeceased by his brother Alonzo Kelly and two sisters, Hester Stokes and Josephine Westall. The family would like to thank the staff of Avery Heights, and particularly his nurse, Jane Ahlquist, who recognized and respected his need to live with dignity and independence. Funeral services and burial with full military honors will be private at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours.
