

Robert G. Schultze, 93, of Niantic and formerly Wethersfield, passed away peacefully on Sunday (September 21, 2014). He was the beloved husband for 35 years of Geraldine (Genrich) Schultze, who predeceased him in 1979. Born in Hartford on July 2, 1921, he was the son of the late Ottomar and Mathilda (Svenson) Schultze. Bob was raised in Wethersfield and was a 1939 graduate of Wethersfield High School. He was a proud WWII U.S. Navy veteran, serving from 1943-1946 in the Philippines. He built and serviced custom measuring systems for Pratt & Whitney Gage Division in West Hartford for 30 years and then worked at Aetna Life & Casualty for 15 years, where he serviced various technical applications. Bob was a member of Hartford Saengerbund and former member of Hospitality Lodge AF&AM #128. He was also a retired 70-year member of Trinity Episcopal Church and was Vice President of the August Moeller Home in Wethersfield. He enjoyed good music, especially classical and Big Band. Bob lived on the Broad St. Green in Wethersfield for 48 years prior to moving to Giant’s Neck, Niantic in 2004. A loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather, he will be dearly missed by his son and daughter-in-law, William and Peggy Schultze; two grandsons, Michael and Daniel and two great-grandchildren, Camrynn and Erickson, all of Colorado. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Sally Schultze of North Eastham, MA; his loving companion, Olga E. Busch of Niantic and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife and parents, Bob was predeceased by his beloved daughter, Linda Lee (Schultze) Reid in 2004 and also by his brother, Edward Schultze.
Private graveside services were held at Village Cemetery, Wethersfield. The James T. Pratt Funeral Service, Wethersfield assisted the family.
