

Roland J. LaBonte, 87, of Hartford, beloved husband of the late Rose (Cudo) LaBonte, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 27, 2017. Born in St. Leonard, Canada on April 4, 1929, he was the son of the late Ludger and Leanne (Levesque) LaBonte. Roland proudly served his country, first in the U.S. Army during WWII from 1945-1951 and then in U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War from 1953-1956. He was a truck driver and a member of Teamsters Local 671. He was very actively involved with the South End Seniors and was also an avid New York Mets fan. A loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather, he will be dearly missed by his sons, Michael LaBonte and wife Kelly of Newington and Paul Hoff and wife Millie of Hartford; 13 adored grandchildren, Andrea, Erica, Thomas, Jessica, Jennifer, Johnny,Kaitlyn, Michelle, Monique, Aria, Michael, Andrew and Pascale and several cherished great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Norma Triano and husband Sal, as well as several nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. He was sadly predeceased by his son, Mark LaBonte; daughters, Nancy Moreaux and Deborah Hoff and his brother, Robert LaBonte.
Funeral services will be Tuesday (March 7) at 9 a.m. at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Lawrence O’Toole Church, 494 New Britain Ave., Hartford. Burial with military honors will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hartford. Family and friends may call on Monday from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral chapel.
