
Roman Michael Oleksiak, 67, of Vernon, beloved husband of Irene (Ochrim) Oleksiak, passed away Saturday July 6, 2013. He was born February 19, 1946 in Augsburg, Germany the son of the late Jozef and Helena (Wojtkowicz) Oleksiak. Roman was a proud U.S. Army veteran serving his country during the Vietnam War. He was employed by the Travelers Insurance Company for 40 years, retiring as the Director of Operations of the Data Processing Department. Roman was an avid fan of the New York Yankees and the New York Giants. Including his wife Irene, he is survived by a step-son Chris Singarella of Ashford; two beloved grandchildren Chris Singarella Jr. and Nick Singarella of Rocky Hill; a brother-in-law Stephan Ochrim and his wife Jola of Wethersfield and a sister-in-law Jeannine Dunphy and her husband Steven of Suffield. Roman was predeceased by his first wife Rose (Johnson) Oleksiak and a sister Irene Loureiro. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday July 10th at 10 a.m. in St. Michael’s Ukrainian Catholic Church, 135 Wethersfield Avenue, Hartford. Everyone is asked to go directly to the church. Burial with military honors will follow in Silver Lane Cemetery, East Hartford. Calling hours are Tuesday from 5-7 p.m. at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield. There will be a Panachyda Service at 6:45 p.m. to conclude calling hours.
