Ronald Anthony Andrea

Ronald Anthony Andrea, 83, of Rocky Hill, beloved husband of Renie (Ghezzi) Andrea for 58 years, passed away peacefully on February 19, 2018 with his loving family by his side. Ronald was born in Hartford on May 29, 1934, son of the late Anthony and Linda (Chiarizio) DeAndrea. He grew up in Hartford, graduating from Bulkeley High School, class of 1952. Following high school, he served honorably in the United States Army. Ronald was a proud member of the Local 559 Teamsters having worked for many years at the Aetna Life and Casualty Company in their Mail and Transportation Department. He was also a charter member of the Knights of Columbus, earning the rank of fourth degree knight, and was one of the founders of the Ronald Andrea Seminarian Award. Ronald was an avid sports fan, coached a variety of sports and was a former president of the St. James Men's Club. Being a man of very strong faith, he loved leading the rosary before mass at St. James Church, where he was a faithful communicant for many years. In addition to his wife, Ronald will be sadly missed by his son, John Andrea and his wife Mary of Glastonbury and their children: Michael and his wife Cassandra, Benjamin and Kathryn; his son Steven Andrea and his wife Veronica of Wethersfield and their children: Montana, Grace and Samuel, as well as many devoted nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Dolores Amenta. Funeral services will begin on Saturday, February 24, 2018 at 9:00 a.m. from the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Boulevard, Wethersfield. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:00 a.m. at St. Josephine Bakhita Parish (St. James Church), 767 Elm Street, Rocky Hill. Burial with full military honors will follow in Village Cemetery, Old Wethersfield. The family will receive relatives and friends on Friday, from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the funeral chapel.
