Rosa Vargas

Born in Aguada, Puerto Rico on August 30, 1950, she was the daughter of the late Ricardo Vargas and Tomasa Muñiz. Rosa was well-loved in her community on Zion Street in Hartford. Known for her great sense of humor and her kind and selfless spirit, she loved and welcomed everyone with a smile and a kind word. From her window, she provided friendship, advice or consolation to any passerby that might pay her a visit. All walks of life were welcomed lovingly, even the four-legged and winged friends that she provided with whatever food she could spare. Rosa took life as it came and always kept a song in her heart. At any time, she could be found singing and humming along to life’s music.

Rosa will be forever missed by her beloved and devoted daughters, Elizabeth Morillo of Tampa, Florida, Maritza Gonzalez of Hartford, Lynette Espinosa and her husband Benjamin of Hebron and Rosaly McKreith and her husband Ryan of West Hartford; ten grandchildren, Kevin Morillo, Erica Smith, Mikayla Oliveras, Amanda Cruz, Brandon Cruz, Jaiden Espinosa, Justin Espinosa, Bryanna McKreith, Amya McKreith and Ryan McKreith, Jr.; three great grandchildren, Margaret “Maggie” Morillo, Lucas Morillo and Brandon Cruz, Jr.; two sisters, Maria Vargas Muñiz and Eugenia Vargas, both of Hartford and countless nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by a brother, Francisco Vargas and two sisters, Paulina Rivera and Florencia Santiago.

The family will receive relatives and friends on Monday, February 13th from 5 to 7 p.m. at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield. Everyone is invited to gather again at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, February 14th at Crossroads Community Cathedral, 1492 Silver Ln, East Hartford, CT 06118. Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hartford.
