

Ruth Rumley Brothers, 80, of Wethersfield, widow of Donald N. Brothers, died peacefully on Sunday, (May 27, 2007) at Hartford Hospital. Ruth was born in Hartford on July 4, 1926 to Michael and Mary (Ahern) Rumley, graduated from Hartford Public High School in 1944, and worked for many years at the Hartford Electric Light Company in Wethersfield. Ruth was involved for many years with Meals on Wheels, the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program, and worked at the polls in Wethersfield on Election Days. What Ruth looked forward to the most was getting together with her friends twice a week to play bridge. She also loved reading, solving crossword puzzles and rooting for UConn Basketball and the Boston Red Sox. She leaves her son, Edward R. Brothers, her grandson, Matthew E. Brothers and her sister Arline R. Horton all of Wethersfield and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister Esther R. Hickok, and her brothers, Edward P. and Charles J. Rumley. Funeral services will be Friday at 9 a.m. from the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd. Wethersfield, with a Mass of Christian Burial 10 a.m. in the Church of the Incarnation, Wethersfield. Burial will be in Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield. Friends may call at the funeral chapel on Thursday 5-8 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to Meals on Wheels, 505 Silas Deane Hwy.
