

Ruth Evelyn (Charboneau) Leavitt, 88, of Newington passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on February 22, 2011 at Hartford Hospital. Ruth was the beloved wife of Donald Leavitt for 69 years. Ruth was born in Hartford on August 22, 1922 to the late Alexander and Alva (Gengras) Charboneau. Ruth was a graduate of Hall High School, class of 1940. She married her life-long love, Donald, in 1943 and lived in Hartford prior to moving to Newington where they raised their family. Prior to her retirement, she worked for Atrax Manufacturing Company. She was a communicant of St. Mary's Church of Newington. Ruth was a proud wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her family. Besides her husband, she is survived by two sons, Don, Jr. and his wife Laura; and Bill and his wife Linda, all of Newington; four cherished grandchildren, Jason Leavitt and his wife Jen of Wethersfield, Cara (Leavitt) Baumgartel and her husband Kenny, Kristen Leavitt and Corey Leavitt, all of Newington and her great-grandson, Cole Leavitt of Wethersfield. Ruth also leaves her twin sister, Evelyn Magee and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by three sisters, Alva Donahue, Edna Reid, Amelia Revellie; her brother, Lawrence Charboneau; her sisters-in-law, Lorraine Dodge and Mary Leavitt and her brother-in-law, Russell Leavitt. The funeral is Saturday (February 26) at 9 a.m. at the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Mary's Church, 626 Willard Avenue, Newington with Father Robert Leavitt officiating. Entombment will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hartford. Family and friends may call on Friday from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral chapel.
