Salvatrice “Lidia” Bellassai, 90, of Wethersfield, entered into peaceful rest on Saturday, April 27, 2024. She was the beloved wife of the late Giovanni Bellassai for 50 years. Born in Floridia, Province of Siracusa, Italy on September 24, 1933, she was the cherished daughter of the late Giuseppe and Sebastiana (Tralongo) Forte. Lidia grew up in Italy until she came to the United States in the early 60s.
Lidia worked for the Wiremold Company in West Hartford for many years until her retirement age. She enjoyed baking and found great pleasure in making her signature almond cookies for friends and family. She was a proud member of the Floridian Ladies Society and had many friends in the club. Lidia is the beloved sister of Erminia Sorrentino of Wethersfield and Nuccia Valenti of Italy. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, especially Tina Capossela, who was like a daughter to Lidia, and who looked after her during her final years.
