

Salvatrice “Sally” Palma (Lozito) Michaud, 92, of West Hartford, beloved wife of the late Lewis Joseph Michaud for 54 years, died peacefully Tuesday evening, May 17, 2016 at St. Mary Home in West Hartford surrounded by love. Born in Providence, RI on April 13, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Salvatore and Josephine (Germano) Lozito. Sally was a longtime, faithful communicant of St. Augustine Church, Hartford and served as a teacher in the Girls’ Brigade. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting and her family was fortunate to have received many of her handmade treasures. A loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Sally will be dearly missed by her son, Michael Michaud of Hartford; her daughter and son-in-law, Mary Ann and Glenn Terk of Wethersfield; two granddaughters, Olivia and Hillary Terk of Wethersfield and a great-granddaughter, Sophia Louise Terk of Wethersfield. She will also be fondly remembered by her sister and brother-in-law, Christine “Tina” and George Gwizd of Old Saybrook; her niece, Mary Jo Loveland of Farmington and her nephew, George Gwizd, Jr. of Cape Cod, MA. In addition to her husband and parents, Sally was sadly predeceased by her four infant children, her “angels.” The family wished to extend special thanks to the staff at St. Mary Home for the wonderful care and compassion shown to Sally during the last seven years. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday (May 20) at 10:30 a.m. at St. Augustine Church, 10 Campfield Ave., Hartford. Family and friends are welcome to call prior to the Mass, from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the church. Burial will follow the Mass in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hartford. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Cure PSP (Progressive Supranuclear Palsy), 30 E. Padonia Rd., Suite 201, Timonium, MD 21093. Sally’s husband Lewis suffered through this rare neurological illness for the last five years of his life. The D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, Wethersfield is assisting the family with arrangements.
