

Santo Caramma, 81, of Newington, beloved husband for 40 years of Nelly Caramma, passed away on Monday, August 11, 2025 at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford surrounded by his family. Born in Floridia, province of Siracusa, Sicily on August 11, 1944, he was the son of the late Concetto and Enza (Buccheri) Caramma. Santo came to the U.S. in 1956. He worked as a machinist for Pratt & Whitney for nearly 20-years; then spent a number of years as a self-proprietor in the restaurant business.
A loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Santo will be forever missed by his devoted wife Nelly; five children, Stephan Caramma and wife Sherry of East Hampton, Becky Crocker and husband Chris of Ashford, Kelly Ziomek and Mark Misiewicz of Newington, Greg Walsh and wife Diana of Newington and Paul Walsh and wife Evelyn of Manchester; 10 adored grandchildren, Devin, Sarah, Corey, Meghan, Daniel, Katie, Michael, AnaMaria, Kalyna and Sophia and one cherished great-grandchild, Shea. He is also survived by two brothers, Sebastian Caramma and wife Eve and Claudio Caramma; two sisters, Tina Cicero and Carmela Paul and husband Michael, as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. He was predeceased by his brother-in-law, Sal Cicero.
The funeral service will be Saturday, August 16 at 10 a.m. at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Boulevard, Wethersfield. Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hartford. The family will receive relatives and friends on Friday from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral chapel.
