

Sebastian J. Matarazzo, 100, widower of Antonina (Sbriglio) Matarazzo, entered into God’s care on Monday, January 15, 2024 in Frisco, NC, surrounded by his family. Subby was born in Hartford and was the son of the late Santo and Carmella (Gionfriddo) Matarazzo. For many years, Subby had worked as a general contractor with his acute carpentry skills. Subby also proudly served during WWII in the U.S. Army, where he served in Sai-Pan, as well as playing his trumpet with the Army band.
He enjoyed hunting, boating, fishing, skiing, snowmobiling, playing the trumpet and listening to Jazz and Big Band music. Most of all, he loved his wife and spending time with his family, many friends and his pets. He will be remembered for his handsome smile, kindest heart and always lending a helping hand.
Subby is survived by his daughter, Sandra Kelly of Bozrah, his son, John and Debbie Cooke Matarazzo of Old Lyme and his siblings; Paul Matarazzo, Mary DelDonna and Milli Bucchi, his precious grandchildren; Jason, Jesse and Holly and many nieces and nephews. Subby was also predeceased by a sister, Tina DelCioppo.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate his life on Monday, January 22 for a time of visitation from 9:00-11:00 a.m. followed by a Prayer Service at 11:00 a.m. held at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield. Burial with military honors will follow in Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery, 1 Cottage Grove Rd., Bloomfield.
