

Sebastiana ""Anna"" (Pinnone) Castagna, 98, of Hartford, beloved wife of the late Tonino Castagna, passed away peacefully, on Monday November 30, 2015 surrounded by her loving family. She was born March 20, 1917 in Hartford and was the daughter of the late Vincenzo and Paola (DiNatale) Pinnone. She moved to Floridia, Italy shortly after her birth and returned to Hartford in 1936. Prior to her retirement, Anna was employed for many years at the Colt Manufacturing Company. She was a longtime, faithful communicant of St. Lawrence O'Toole Church, Hartford. Anna was very proud of her vegetable and herb gardens, and she loved to sing and cook. Everything she cooked was homemade and her specialty was her homemade ravioli. There was nothing she enjoyed more than having her family gathered around her dinner table. A loving and devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt, she will be dearly missed by her daughter, Diana DiBacco and her husband Luciano of Wethersfield; four sons, John Castagna and his wife Linda of Ivoryton, Vincent Castagna and his wife Christine of East Hartford, Tony Castagna and his wife Susan of Coventry and Pasquale Castagna of Hartford; 17 adored grandchildren; 17 cherished great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law Pat Castagna and his wife Carol of Florida; a sister-in-law Luisa Grogan and her husband Richard of Old Lyme and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Angelo Pinnone; three sisters, Rosina Farinella, Concetta Romano and Josephine Bazzano; an infant son and three grandchildren, Joseph and Stephen Castagna and Linette Castagna-Angelo. Special thanks to the nursing staff at Avery Heights, Station 1, and to everyone at Avery who took the time to care for her, including the kitchen staff. Funeral services will leave Friday (December 4) at 9:15 a.m. from the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Lawrence O'Toole Church, 494 New Britain Avenue, Hartford. Burial will follow in Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield. Family and friends may call on Thursday from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral chapel.
