Sebastiano Mangiafico

Sebastiano 'Sam' Mangiafico, 86, of East Hartford, loving husband of Francesca (Carbone) Mangiafico for 62 years, died peacefully, Wednesday (October 7, 2009). He was born in Canicattini Bagni, province of Siracusa, Sicily and was the son of the late Sebastiano and Lucia (Gangi) Mangiafico. He lived in East Hartford for 45 years. He was a member of the Union of Operating Engineers, Local 478 and a member of the Canicattini Men's Society, Hartford. Besides his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Carmela Brodie and her husband, Richard of Southington and Lucy Young of Old Saybrook; four cherished grandchildren, Rose Paul and her husband, Scott of Charlotte, NC, Carla Tillotson and her husband, Adam of Southington, Lauren Young of San Jose, CA and Bobby Young of Burlington, VT; four adored great-grandchildren, Devan and Nolan Tillotson and Taylor and Paige Paul; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Salvatore and Paolo Mangiafico and four sisters, Melina Mangiafico, Lucietta Lenares, Paulina Mangiafico and Concetta Gallo. Funeral service will be Saturday, October 10, at 9 a.m. from the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Luke Church, 66 Bolton Street, Hartford. The burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hartford. Calling hours are Friday from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral chapel.
