Stella (Monterosso) DeNicola passed away peacefully, Friday, January 9, 2015. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Giro “Jerry” DeNicola and was the beloved, only child of the late Sebastian and Angelina (Perez) Monterosso. She was a lifelong resident of New Britain and active member of St. Ann Church and devout Catholic. Stella graduated from New Britain High School and attended Central Connecticut State University (what was then known as the ""teacher's college""), University of Hartford and Yale University where she obtained her Bachelor's and Master's degrees and 6th year certificate. She became an art teacher and interior designer. Stella was a longtime member of the Sons of Italy, Italian Junior League, The Women’s Club, The Garden Club at Shuttle Meadow Country Club, member of the New Britain Museum of Art, and sat on the New Britain General Hospital Auxiliary Board and Hospital for Special Care Auxiliary Board for many years. She was very generous with her time as a volunteer at New Britain General Hospital for 33 years and because of her donation of time, received the Humanitarian award from the Son's of Italy. She was a successful business woman and was an owner of several ventures throughout her life; Monterosso Paint Store, New Britain Real Estate, Camelot Dinner Theater, Village Interiors and Portland Convalescent Home. She leaves her children, John DeNicola of Westbrook, a daughter Dina (DeNicola) Bonola and her husband David Bonola of Southington and their sons, Christian and Julian Bonola. Stella was a talented artist, loved animals, loved to dance, always drove a Cadillac and would light up a room when she walked into it. There was nothing in this world that she loved more devotedly than her children and grandchildren. Stella means “star” and that she was. She is now dancing in heaven with her loved ones and is the ""belle of the ball"". Calling hours will be Monday, January 12th from 4:00 - 7:00 P.M. at the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd. Wethersfield. A Mass of Christian burial will be held Tuesday at 10:00 A.M. at St. Ann Church, North Street, New Britain. Everyone is asked to please go directly to the church.
