Stephen Leo Alfano, 70, of East Hampton, entered into God’s care on Saturday, January 11, 2025. He was the beloved husband of Tracey (Hayes) Alfano for 16 years. Stephen was born in Hartford and was the son of the late Leo Francis and Antoinette “Nancy” (Rinaldo) Alfano. He graduated from Rocky Hill High School with the Class of 1972 and was a member of the Elk’s Lodge in Rocky Hill. He also enjoyed spending time at the Elks Lodges in Middletown and Westbrook.
Anyone who knew Stephen can attest that he lived his life to its fullest and was a kid at heart. He loved playing his drums, working on his motorcycles, puttering in his yard, and spending time with his family. His passion for Harleys, especially Sportsters, earned him the nickname “Sportster Steve” within in the motorcycle community. Riding and exploring new places brought him great joy. Stephen had a passion for bringing people together and founded a Rocky Hill High School alumni group that regularly gathered for coffee and various events. What began as a small group became a group of many who loved to share memories and laughter.
Later in life, Stephen taught himself to play the drums, and his love of music truly began to shine. Some of his happiest moments were spent practicing or performing with his band, CC & the Gearheads.
Stephen took great pride in his career, beginning as a heavy equipment mechanic, operator, and truck driver at Chiulli & Sons, where he worked for ten years. He later joined the City of Hartford, dedicating 32 years before retiring in 2020.
In addition to his beloved wife, Tracey, Stephen will be dearly missed by his daughters, Danielle Plona and her husband Garett, and Nicole Plunske and her husband Robert; his stepchildren, Nicole Toussaint and her husband Justin, and Benjamin Mailloux; and his six precious grandchildren: Mason, Derek, and Whitney Plona; Maxwell and Gavin Plunske; and Mylo Toussaint. He also leaves behind his sisters, Deborah J. Alfano and Cheryl Connell, as well as a host of cousins, neighbors, and dear friends. We’d like to especially thank Roger Rinaldi for checking in with Steve daily and taking him to his many appointments.
The family invites relatives and friends for a time of visitation on Sunday, January 19, 2025 from 11:00 – 2:30pm – to celebrate his life and share memories and will conclude with a prayer service from 2:30-3:00pm at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield.
