

Theologos L. Simon, an ardent Yankee fan and past president of the Golden Rascals at St. George Greek Orthodox Church for eight years, died Saturday, December 31, 2011 at age 92. Born in New Britain, he was the son of Semos and Maria (Lupos) Simon and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a Free Mason for more than 60 years. Theologos was self employed in the restaurant business and later retired from banking. He was a member of the St. George Greek Orthodox Church in New Britain. He was married to the late Lillian (Faix) Simon for 45 years. Theologos is survived by two children (a son, Dr. Theodore R. Simon and his wife Marcia of Dallas, TX and a daughter, Mary Simon of Wethersfield), three grandsons (Jacob T. Simon, Theodore H. T. Simon and Mark G. Simon), two nephews, a niece and their families: Frederick and Susan Kircheis of Carmel, ME; Richard and Erma Kircheis of Belmont, MI; and Shirley and Gary King of Columbia, CT. Theologos’ family would like to extend special thanks for the wonderful care provided by the staff at Hartford Hospital and the Hospital for Special Care Cardiac Unit in New Britain.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, (January 4, 2012) at 11:00 am in St. George Greek Orthodox Church, 301 West Main Street, New Britain. Burial will follow in Village Cemetery, Wethersfield with full military honors. Family and friends may visit the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield on Wednesday from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. prior to the funeral service.
