

Viola (Barbagallo) Phillips Hull, 94, of Wethersfield, wife of the late Paul Hull and the late Raymond Phillips, died Tuesday, July 1, 2014 at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford. She was born in Hartford, the daughter of the late Paolo and Agatina (Gemmellaro) Barbagallo and lived in Wethersfield since 1978. Sometimes known as “Vi” or “Queen Bee”, she loved to dance, play bridge and was a remarkable woman who was passionately devoted to her family. Vi is survived by three daughters; Susan Phillips Ledger of Suffield, Judith Hull Miller and her husband Thomas of Richboro, PA and Linda Phillips Hull of South Windsor; five grandchildren, Jenifer Nigri, Sean Miller and his wife Dina, Kelley DiBella and her husband Joseph, Todd Miller, Ryan Hull and his wife Rebecca; ten great grandchildren, Kayleigh Hull, Tommy Nigri, Ariana Miller, Lilly Hull, Luke Hull, Cece Nigri, Keira Miller, Corinne DiBella, Soren Hull and Owen DiBella; her adopted son, Stanley Phillips and his wife Jo-Ann of Troy, OH, a brother-in-law, Robert Wagner of Rochester, NY; two nieces, Charlotte Chickering and Ginger Caywood and a nephew, Robert Franklin. Vi also leaves her boyfriend, Emilio Arcarese; dear friends, Kevin Rennie, Virginia Turek, Aggie Pine and Gladen Braddock; her aide and dear friend, Benedicta Quartey and dearest friend, Mary Thompson, a member of the famous “Gab Group”. She was predeceased by a daughter, Nancy; a sister, Ann Franklin; a step-daughter, Corinda; a step-son, Robert and a son-in-law, R. Peter Ledger.
The funeral service will be Tuesday, July 8 at 1:00 pm in Trinity Episcopal Church, 300 Main Street, Wethersfield with the Rev. Lois Keen officiating. Burial will be in Wapping Cemetery, South Windsor. There are no calling hours. The D'Esopo Funeral Chapel of Wethersfield is assisting the family with arrangements.
