Yolanda (DePaolis) Fiorentino, 84, of West Hartford, beloved wife of the late Edward T. “Big Ed” Fiorentino, Sr., died Monday November 21, 2011 at St. Francis Hospital. Born in Hartford, she was the youngest of eleven, daughter of the late Pietro and Madeline (Infante) DePaolis and lived in West Hartford for most of her life. In her early career she had worked at Royal Typewriter and worked at home as a day care provider. She loved children, and was always willing to baby sit for all her nieces and nephews kids. She retired from Keeney Manufacturing Co. in Newington after many years of service. Yolanda was a longtime faithful communicant of St. Patrick & St. Anthony Church as well as a member of the Mr. & Mrs. Club. She was also a member of the South End Ladies Democratic Club. Yolanda loved going to play bingo at the casino with the love of her life, her husband ""Big Ed"". She has missed him terribly this past year. They were always together, and enjoyed travel, visiting people, and helping out where ever they could. Yolanda had a great fondness for Angels. She displayed them proudly all around her home. If you didn't know what to give Yolanda as a gift, just give her an Angel and it would make her day. She would remember who gave her each one. Many were given to her by her loving niece Tina Gallo, who she had a special relationship with. She was a lover of animals, especially her grand dogs Phillis and Dio, or any other four legged critters that would stop by her home for a visit. Yolanda always remembered everyone in the families birthday, anniversaries, and made sure to make a call to wish them well. She always made sure to stay in touch with all of the family. She will be sadly missed by her family and many friends. She is survived by her daughters, Paula and Madeline and a son, Edward Jr., her sister and brother-in-law, Lillian and Michael Curcio of Hartford, her sister-in-law Louise Maggaldi of Rocky Hill, and many nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 10 a.m. in St. Patrick & St. Anthony Church, 285 Church St., Hartford. Burial will follow in Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield. There will be no calling hours.
