Edward C. "Eddie" Sheets

Edward C. Sheets, 63, of Mt. Sidney, passed away on Wednesday, March 2, 2011 at the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville. He was born on May 9, 1947 in Staunton, and was a son of the late Paul and Geneva Wine Sheets. Eddie lived his life on his farm in Mt. Sidney; he graduated from Fort Defiance High School, Virginia Tech with a Bachelors Degree and Virginia State University with his Masters. He spent most of his teaching career at Stewart Middle School in Ft. Defiance and also taught at John C. Myers Intermediate School in Broadway. He was a member of Victory Worship Center in Staunton and Mt. Sidney Ruritan Club. Eddie is survived by two sons, Rob Sheets and wife, Amy of Midlothian, Paul “Rett” Sheets and wife, Laura of Tucson, AZ, one daughter, Martha Lynn Sheets and fiancé, Jason McClure of Industry, ME; three grandchildren, Christopher, John, and Karlee Sheets, one sister, Wanda Fitzgerald of Staunton, his step father, Garold Senger of Verona, and a number of Aunts, Uncles, Nephews, Nieces, and Cousins. The family will receive friends 6-8:00 PM, Sunday, March 6, at the Lindsey Funeral Home in Weyers Cave. The casket will be closed. A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM, Monday, March 7, at Victory Worship Center with Pastor Ray Eppard officiating. Private burial will follow at Lebanon Church of the Brethren Cemetery.
