Edwin Clarence “E.C.” Showalter, Jr., 100, of Weyers Cave, passed away on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at Bellaire at Stoneport. He was born January 11, 1926, and was the son of the late Edwin C. Showalter, Sr. and Bessie Ruebush Showalter.
E.C. was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and served in the South Pacific area in World War II.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church and served as the district lay speaker. He was an active member of the Weyers Cave Ruritan Club for 75 years.
On April 1, 1949, he married Ruth Cline Showalter, who survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Lois Showalter and Linda Sullivan; a brother, David Showalter of Weyers Cave; two sons-in-law, Mike Stevens and Joseph Sullivan; two grandchildren, Sarah Ralston of Weyers Cave and Ben Ralston of Craigsville; a great-granddaughter, Serenity Faith Ralston and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Carol Showalter Stevens; two granddaughters Monica and Bethany Stevens; two brothers, Claude Showalter and Roy Lee Showalter; three sisters, Helen S. Smith, Nellie S. Leseman and Ruth S. Kegley.
A memorial service will be held at 1 pm, Saturday, February 21, 2026, at the Weyers Cave United Methodist Church, officiated by Rev. Amy Pannell.
Honoring his wishes, he will be cremated and burial will be private.
