Edward Paul "Ed" Chorak

Edward Paul (Ed) Chorak, a long- time resident of White Castle, passed away peacefully on December 10, 2016 in McKinney, Texas. He was born in Chicago, Illinois on October 6, 1923 to John and Mary Chorak. Ed is a United States Marine having served during World War II in various campaigns in the South Pacific. He married the love of his life, Margaret Campesi, of White Castle and after a short time in Chicago, they made their home in White Castle. He was a devoted husband and father. Although he was born in Chicago, Ed came to call Louisiana his “home.” He truly enjoyed the culture of south Louisiana, especially the food, football, and good times. Ed was the life of the party, never met a stranger, and could strike up a conversation with anyone. He loved sports of any kind and he was thrilled to be able to see his Chicago Cubs win the World Series. He was loved dearly by his many nieces and nephews and was affectionately called “Paw Paw Ed.” His greatest joys in life were his grandchildren and although he enjoyed living the last 10 years in Texas so he could be near them, he never forgot his family and friends back in Louisiana. His warm smile, kind heart, and jovial personality will be missed by everyone who knew him. Ed is survived by his daughter, Margaret McGreevy and husband, Tod of McKinney, Texas; two grandchildren, Matt and Emily McGreevy; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Chorak; parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Chorak; two brothers, John Chorak and Rudy “Roots” Chorak; a niece, Judith “Tootie” Chorak; and three nephews, Joseph Campesi, Vincent Campesi, and Ross Campesi, Jr. Ed’s family would like to thank the staff at Brookdale Assisted Living in McKinney, Texas for providing a wonderful place for him to call home. Visitation at Ascension of Our Lord Catholic Church, Donaldsonville, La. from 9 a.m. on Saturday, December 17,2016 until Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Interment in White Castle Cemetery.
