

Mabel Lucy Troxclair Gaspard, age 91, died on Thursday, October 2 at her residence in Baton Rouge. She was a native of Lafourche Parish, grew in up White Castle, and was a former long-time resident of New Iberia.
Visitation will be Sunday, Oct. 5, 2014, 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Ourso Funeral Home, White Castle, and Monday, Oct. 6, 2014, 9:00 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church, with Rev. Gary Schexnayder, celebrant. Interment will be in Our Lady of Prompt Succor Cemetery under the direction of Ourso Funeral Home, White Castle.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lee Roy Francis Gaspard, Sr. of New Iberia, in 1996.
She and Lee Roy raised their family in New Iberia, where she was a loving mother and homemaker, a diligent genealogist, and organizer for most family activities. As a long-time member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church in New Iberia, she taught religious education for six years, sharing her deep Catholic faith. She was also a former president and active member of the Busy Bees Homemakers Club for many years. Mabel’s humorous phrases and antics will be missed by family and friends.
Pall bearers will be her sons and sons-in-law. Honorary pallbearers are her brothers, Alvin and Laurent Troxclair, and brother-in-law, William Siegel.
Survivors include her six children and their spouses, Lee and Karen Gaspard of Houston, TX, Maria and Harry Seamans of McGehee, AR, Greg Gaspard of Houston, TX, Jerome and Tammy Gaspard of New Iberia, Louis Gaspard and Katie Morel of New Iberia, and Michelle and Lou Resweber of Baton Rouge.
She is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren : Lee Anne Mayer and her husband, Thorsten, and their daughters Quinn and Kaia, of Budapest, Hungary; Jeffrey and his wife Andrea Gaspard and their son Simon, of Humble, TX ; Ginny S. and her husband Trey Raymer and their daughter, Avery, of Edmond, OK; Holly S. and her husband Dan Calaway and their children, Morgan and Garrett, of Benton, AR; Amy S. and husband Alan Spears and their children Harrison and Anna, of Fayetteville, AR; Miles Gaspard, Hillary Gaspard, Mandy G. Armentor and her daughter Emily, Mindy Gaspard, Louis Gaspard Jr. and his wife Lauren and their children Trey and Levi, Lee Roy E. Gaspard, all of New Iberia; and Nicole R. Chase and her husband John of Houston, Andrew Resweber and William Resweber of Baton Rouge, two brothers, Alvin Troxclair of Bayou Goula, and Laurent Troxclair and his wife, Betty Jo, of Baton Rouge. Other survivors are her sister-in-law, Iris Troxclair of Baton Rouge, and her brother-in-law, William Siegel of River Ridge, as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Louis N. and Virginia Simon Troxclair; brothers, Roland Troxclair, Donald Troxclair and infant Stephen Troxclair; and sisters, Marie Troxclair, Laurence Troxclair and Alma T. Siegel.
