Doris was born on February 24, 1923 in Holmdel Township, NJ to Elbert and Carrie Vanmater. After high school, Doris spent over 30 dedicated years working at Weston Electrical Instruments Corp in Newark, NJ. Later in life, she also worked for Sears Department Store at Willowbrook Mall in Wayne, NJ.
Doris met her loving husband Frank in Newark, NJ and they were married for over 40 years. Together they had two children, Richard (Helen) and Lois (Vincent). She was the very proud grandmother of Richard (Heather), Stephanie, David (Shannon), Robert, and Christopher (Kristen). She was also a great-grandmother and great-great- grandmother to many.
She was predeceased by her parents (Elbert and Carrie), her husband (Frank), her son (Richard), her son-in-law (Vincent), and her seven brothers and sisters.
Doris lived a full life, spent with family, friends, and doing things she enjoyed. She was an avid bowler, spent time knitting and sewing, loved car rides to nowhere, and taking her family on vacations to Wildwood. She was a dedicated fan of the New York Yankees and especially Derek Jeter. She was a lover of dogs, most recently enjoying the company of her pal Daisy. Most of all, Doris loved her family and friends and instilled good values in her children and grandchildren that have served them well. She was loved by so many and will be so greatly missed.
The family expresses a heartfelt thank you Serenity Hospice Care for their dedicated, compassionate, and loving care.
