Edith was born in Townley, AL on January, 30, 1934, and she was the daughter of the late Essie and David Mitchell.
Married to Carl on Feb 2nd 1952 they began their life. With the birth of their first daughter Cathy Ann in 1953 Edith travelled back to her husband’s home of Longdale OK aboard a steam locomotive headed west with Cathy in her arms. They settled on the family farm where their second daughter Sherry Kay was born in 1955. After several years of family growth, opportunities took the family to points north. Ohio, where Carl Steven was born in 1960, then on to Michigan where John Harvey blessed Edith’s life in 1968.
Edith lovingly made her family home in Fowlerville Michigan where she managed garden activities each and every year, she was a skilled seamstress, who could knit, quilt and sew, she loved to cook and bake pastries especially cinnamon buns that her husband loved. And could also pick up a wide split on the alley when challenged.
Upon her retirement she returned to other family and friends back in Oklahoma where she spent 13 years enjoying the blessings of life well lived.
In later years Edith resided in the Holiday City West section of Toms River where she enjoyed her church community at Whiting Bible Church.
Edith was a devoted Christian servant of over 65 years with assignments at various ministries that included; Sunday School Teacher, Church Treasurer, and Vacation Bible School Coordinator.
She will be truly missed, remembered, and always loved.
Mother of the late Cathy Dangler, Grandmother of the late Michael Hough, Edith is survived by her beloved husband of 66 years, Carl M. Heer; her three children, Sherry Hough and her husband James, Carl S. Heer and his wife Dawn, and John Heer; six grandchildren, Jessie, Zachary, Christopher, David, Christa, Kennedy thirteen great grandchildren, and a brother and sister.
Visitation will be on Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Anderson and Campbell Funeral Home, 115 Lacey Road, Whiting, NJ 08759. Her funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Whiting Memorial Park.
