Eleonore Greenwald

Eleonore “Elly” Greenwald, 89, of the Whiting section of Manchester Twp., NJ, passed away peacefully in her home on Tuesday, February 9, 2021, surrounded by her loving family. Following a career in sales, as well as teaching German in Philadelphia, Elly became a homemaker, who spent her life supporting and caring for her family. Born in Vienna, Austria, she emigrated to the United States in the late sixties and settled in the Toms River area to raise her family. Elly then lived in Egg Harbor Township for 10 years, before moving to Whiting six years ago. Elly is predeceased by her husband, the late Ernest Greenwald who passed away in 1999, as well as her sister Maria (Ria) and brother in law Edward Loyd, as well as her sister “Jennie”. Elly is survived by her daughter Evelyn Greenwald of Ocean City, NJ, her son in law Douglas Ruhl; grandson Douglas Ruhl (16) and granddaughter Alanis Ruhl (7). She is also survived by her step son Alexander Greenwald, step daughters Linda Mulkern and Jaqueline Delano, and nephew Charles Loeffler.

The family will hold a Celebration of Life event to honor Eleonore later this year, and details will be made available by the family shortly.
