

Elfriede Piller, 94, of Whiting, NJ, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, March 3, 2024 at The Pines in Whiting. Elfriede was born in Port Richmond, Staten Island, NY to Karl Heiss and Gertrude (Holdemann) Heiss. In May of 1955, she married the love of her life, Joseph Piller and moved to Warren, NJ in 1959 to raise their family.
After having children she became a Secretary at Woodland School in Warren, NJ and later worked as a Bilingual Secretary for American Hoechst-Celanese Corporation in Bridgewater, NJ, retiring in 1997. She then worked part time as a receptionist for Dr. Fraze in Warren until she moved in 2005, to Crestwood Village 6, in Whiting, NJ. Here she was an active member of the community, serving as a Safety Patrol Officer and member of the Garden Club. She was also a Deacon at Community Reformed Church in Whiting.
Elfriede was predeceased by her parents, Karl & Gertrude Heiss; her husband, Joseph Piller; and her sister, Trudy Hermes. She is survived by her 3 daughters, Christina Lafoon and her husband Paul of Goochland, VA, Elizabeth Staller and her husband Eric of Raritan, NJ, and Linda Piller of Warren, NJ; and her 4 grandchildren, Amanda, Eric, Matthew and Joseph. She is also survived by many beloved nieces & nephews.
Visitation will be held on Friday, March 8, 2024 from 1-3:30pm at Anderson & Campbell Funeral Home, 115 Lacey Rd. Whiting, NJ. Funeral services will begin at 3:30pm at the funeral home.
