Katharina M. Pereira

Katharina M. Pereira, 80, of Whiting, NJ, passed away on Monday, May 18, 2026 at Beth Israel Medical Center in Newark, NJ after a 5-week battle with a heart attack and it's resulting complications. Katharina was born on September 23, 1945 in Solothurn, Switzerland to Walter and Frieda (Schwab) Haberli.

She was a trained watchmaker in Switzerland and retired after 46 years. She married Willard (Will) F. Pereira on December 14, 2014 in Chalfont, Pennsylvania. Katharine, as she was better known, was sworn in as a U.S. citizen on April 16, 2025 in Mount Laurel, NJ. She was so enormously proud of the achievement, showing her certificate to all her family & friends, finally hanging it on the living room wall.

Katharine was a gifted knitter and crocheter, creating beautiful sweaters and other garments. She also made many blankets for hospital patients. She was a generous, selfless lady. She had a boundless zest for life and loved traveling, especially to Namibia, Africa and Chincoteague, Virginia. She and Will took many trips in their 30-foot Winnebago.

Everyone either liked or loved Katharine. She leaves behind many friends, especially Marleis and Gene, Sherry and Sandra, Paul and Robin, Sam and Diane, Paul and Robin, and Michelle and Betty. She is survived by her loving husband, Will; her sister-in-law, Louise; her 105-year old mother-in-law, Eileen; her older sister, Heidi; and her younger brother, Fredrick, both still living in Switzerland. She is also survived by her beloved ginger tabby cat, Rusty.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 28, 2026, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at Anderson & Campbell Funeral Home, 115 Lacey Road, Whiting, NJ 08759. A Committal Service will follow at 1:00 pm at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Memorial Cemetery, 350 Province Line Rd, Wrightstown, NJ 08562.
