Maria Louise McGinnis

Maria Louise Fitzgerald McGinnis, 63, of Toms River, NJ, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Friday, August 18, 2023 at Cooper University Hospital in Camden, NJ. Maria was born in Brooklyn, NY, grew up in Jackson, NJ and graduated from Jackson High School. She lived in Brick, NJ and Virginia before moving to Toms River in 1989 to raise her family.

Those who knew Maria would say she had a zest for life and lived it on her own terms. Maria was always there to help a friend in need. She loved to cook, crochet, fish and the ocean. She also loved the New York Mets and wore her favorite Mets hat proudly. Maria’s greatest love was her children and spending time with her family. She will be dearly missed.

Maria was predeceased by her father, John Joseph Fitzgerald; and 2 sons, John Joseph Rossbach and Thomas J. McGinnis, Jr and her son in law Lee Hreha. She is survived by her mother, Rosetheresa Fitzgerald; husband, Thomas J. McGinnis; her 3 children Anthony Fitzgerald, Nicole Hreha and RoseTheresa Whitley and her husband Bryan; 15 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her 6 siblings John, Philip, Steven, Catherine, Andrea and Joseph; many nieces & nephews; and her beloved beagle Bella May.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 27, 2023 from 2-4pm at Anderson & Campbell Funeral Home, 115 Lacey Rd. Whiting, NJ. Funeral Services will begin at 3:30pm at the funeral home.
