Mary Ellen Carlon, 81, of Whiting, NJ, passed away on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, at home. She was born and raised in Northampton, Massachusetts, later living in Easthampton before settling in Whiting twenty years ago. She attended Northampton High School and Elms College in Chicopee, Massachusetts, where she received a master's degree in education. She worked at Ryan Road Elementary School in Northampton School District for thirty-six years until she retired.
Mary Ellen was a devout Catholic and was a member St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church. She enjoyed quilting and love tracing her family genealogy roots back to Ireland.
Mary Ellen was predeceased by her parents John and Claire Carlon and her brother-in-law Frank Gillissie. She is survived by her sister Catherine Gillissie of Whiting, her nieces Amy (Rob) Geisendaffer of Waretown, Jennifer (John) Pampalone of Manahawkin and six great nieces.
A Memorial Gathering will be held at Anderson & Campbell Funeral Home, located at 115 Lacey Road, Whiting, NJ 08759, on Monday, February 16, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM.
A Memorial Mass is scheduled at the All Saints Chapel at St Elizabeth Ann Seton RC Church, 30 Schoolhouse Rd, Whiting, New Jersey 08759, on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at 10:45 AM.
