

Bette Goodnight, 87, of Wichita Falls passed away Thursday, December 15, 2011. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, December 17, 2011 at Tenth and Broad Church of Christ with Pastor Larry Suttle officiating. Interment will follow at Crestview Memorial Park. No formal visitation is scheduled.
Mrs. Goodnight was born on November 4, 1924 in Canadian, Oklahoma to the late Harry F. and M. C. (Jenks) Dougherty. She married Jake A. Goodnight, Jr. on November 17, 1951 in McAlester, OK and they recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. They lived in Electra, TX for many years, then in Olney, TX from 1965 until 1984. Afterwards, they moved to Lakeside City, TX for more than 20 years until retiring to Rolling Meadows in 2006. Mrs. Goodnight was a lifelong and active member of the Church of Christ, most recently at Tenth and Broad. While in Olney, she was a member was a member of Hamilton Street Church of Christ where she taught Sunday School. She worked along with her husband at Goodnight Drug in Olney and was an avid member of the Ladies’ Golf Association there. She and Jake were totally involved and committed to their family.
Survivors include her husband, Jake A. Goodnight, Jr. of Wichita Falls; daughters, Terri Asher and husband, Randy of Graham, TX and Jeri Young and husband, Brad of Archer City; she was preceded in death by a son, Grant Goodnight in 1953. Other survivors are grandchildren, Kylie DeLaO, Carrie Morton, Jamie Hill, Hailey Schlegel, Prewett Asher and R. J. Young; one great granddaughter, Laney Hill. Preceding her in death were a brother, Harry ‘Bud’ Dougherty and a sister, Johnie Belle Vaia.
