Betty Dean Young

Betty D. Wooldridge Young, 77, of Graham, TX died Tuesday, July 26, 2011 at a nursing facility in Wichita Falls. Services have been scheduled for 3:00 p.m., Friday, July 29, 2011 at the Lakeview Church of the Nazarene on Fairway in Wichita Falls officiated by Reverend Matthew A. Carte. Interment will follow at Pioneer Cemetery in Graham, TX directed by Hampton Vaughan Funeral Home.

Betty was born April 20, 1934 near Holliday, TX to Carthy and Thelma Wooldridge. She married Thomas E. Young, Sr. July 23, 1948 in Burkburnett and together they raised one son. Betty and her husband were founding members of the Church of the Nazarene in Graham, TX. Betty was a real southern woman full of grace. She always had a smile on her lips and a kind word for everyone. She will be remembered for her strong faith in God, her ability to always care for others, and of course her fabulous cooking.

Mrs. Young is preceded in death by her parents, Carthy and Thelma Wooldridge; son, Tom Young, and brother, Tommy Wooldridge.

Survivors include her loving husband of 63 years, Thomas E. Young, Sr.; grandchildren and their spouses, Trey and Misty Young of Wichita Falls, Lisa and Ronny Melton; daughter-in-law, Denise Young-Jones; and four great-grandchildren, Bayleigh Melton, Caleb Bertram, Jaci Fernandez, and Chance Fernandez.

The family would like to thank the staffs of Grace Care Center and Hospice of Wichita Falls for their kind and wonderful care of Mrs. Young during her last days.

Visitation will be held 6:00-8:00 p.m., Thursday, July 28, 2011 at Hampton Vaughan Funeral Home.
